Construction Activities
Current construction:
Currently the project is in stage 3 construction. Turnpike travel lanes are shifted southward to accommodate construction activities for new bridge and roadway construction. Contractor is currently constructing new abutment footings and drilled shafts, pier footings and columns. Earthwork continues with fill placement for the western abutments and the new interchange ramps. Drainage work includes installation of drainage pipes for the new ramp configuration and the boring of new drainage pipes under the existing turnpike lanes. Erosion and sedimentation control efforts continue as construction progresses.
Big Beaver Boulevard (SR-0018) reconstruction has begun. Traffic is currently in single lane configuration utilizing the southbound lanes with northbound traffic utilizing a cross-over. I-76 Eastbound on and off ramps are utilizing a temporary ramp configuration with SR-0018. Be sure to follow new signage for I-76 entry from SR-0018.
River Road will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers intermittently for access to the construction site.
Thompson Run Road was closed on July 17, 2023, for approximately 12 months, a short detour is posted.
