Transparency and Accountability at the PA Turnpike Commission

As a public agency and service provider for more than 500,000 customers per day, we strive to embody diversity, integrity, and sustainability in all our practices.   

Commission Meetings

The PA Turnpike typically holds commission meetings twice a month on Tuesdays. We provide a schedule that includes meeting dates and agendas of meetings, as well as the minutes and recordings of previous meetings.

Fraud and Abuse Tip Box

Maintenance of public confidence, integrity, and efficiency is a top priority for the PA Turnpike.

The Fraud and Abuse Tip Box is operated by the Office of Special Investigations to help prevent and detect any fraudulent or irregular activity.

Employees, the general public, and anyone doing business with the PA Turnpike can report suspected wrongdoing involving fraud or abuse.

The Advisory Committee reviews and evaluates current PA Turnpike policies and procedures relating to contracting and other business practices in order to identify where continuous improvement can be made and to search best practices.

The PA Turnpike, in partnership with PennDOT, performed a study on the possibility of a hyperloop system in Pennsylvania to increase mobility.

What are the environmental initiatives taken by the Pennsylvania Turnpike?

The PA Turnpike is committed to creating an organization-wide culture of sustainability where all decisions take into account our economic, environmental and social impact. The Pennsylvania Turnpike is the first and only state agency to achieve a 100% score from the GreenGov Council. We also aim to become America’s First Sustainable Superhighway by 2040.

Key sustainability initiatives include:

  • Installed our first solar microgrid – a tolling industry first –in New Stanton, Westmoreland County.
  • Continuing to lay a 550-mile fiber optic broadband network.
  • Installed 63 EV chargers at eight service plazas to help meet customers’ demand for electric vehicles.
  • Planted six pollinator habitats across the Pennsylvania Turnpike system, with more in development.
