Construction Activities
Construction began in December 2022 to widen and reconstruct two miles of the PA Turnpike between milepost 12 and milepost 14 in North Sewickley Township, Homewood Borough, and Big Beaver Borough, Beaver County. The roadway will expand from four to six lanes, improving safety and capacity.
The project includes replacing seven structures (three overhead bridges, a mainline bridge over PA 18, twin Beaver River bridges, and a Thompson Run culvert extension), reconfiguring the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) with PA 18, adding sound barriers, and upgrading storm‑water facilities. Completion is expected in December 2027.
Early‑action work carried out between 2014 and 2017 replaced the bridge on Foxwood Drive, two Norfolk Southern Railroad crossings, and the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) ramp bridge over Big Beaver Boulevard (SR 0018) to clear the way for roadway widening.
