Project Overview
This project will reconstruct and widen two miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from milepost 12 to milepost 14 in North Sewickley Township, Homewood Borough, and Big Beaver Borough, Beaver County. The roadway will be widened from four lanes to six, featuring three 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, a 26-foot median, and 12-foot-wide shoulders.
This project also includes the complete replacement of the mainline bridge over the Beaver River (WB-211, Milepost 13.21) The mainline will be shifted to the north to realign with the new bridge structure and to avoid environmental and utility issues to the south. The existing interchange will be reconfigured into a conventional interchange with SR 0018.
As part of this multiphase project, the PA Turnpike has advanced four overhead bridge replacements in the Milepost 12‑14 corridor. The Beaver River mainline bridge (WB‑211) replacement is currently under construction. Construction of the mainline roadway and the bridges over the Beaver River are currently in progress with an expected completion date of December 2027.
Upon completion, this reconstruction and widening project will enhance safety and mobility for travelers on this section of the interstate.
