Back to Completed Construction
Project Description
As the first contract for construction of the I95/I276 Interchange connection, Section D10 will widen the Pennsylvania Turnpike Mainline (I276) between the existing I95 roadway and the Delaware River Bridge. The project will include construction of the new Northbound I95 “flyover” structure, which will connect I95 Northbound to I276 Eastbound.
In order to provide sufficient room for the merging of the two roadways, Section D10 consists of widening and reconstruction of approximately 1½ miles of existing I276.
This project also includes:
- Replacement/construction of new wider bridges over Durham Road, Route 413 and Mill Creek
- Construction of retaining walls along both eastbound and westbound PA Turnpike Mainline due to widening of the existing roadway
- Sound barrier walls along both eastbound and westbound areas of the project
- Replacement/reconstruction of the existing roadways
- Installation of new drainage systems, construction of basins for erosion control and storm water management
- Replacement of signing and guide rail
- Installation of ITS facilities
- Improvements to local roadways include Durham Road and Route 413 in the vicinity of I276.
