Design Activities
This project will include a six-lane roadway with twelve (12) foot shoulders and widening of the median from ten (10) to twenty-six (26) feet. This roadway configuration is in line with the configuration that the PTC is using across the state.

The design of this project will be divided into two phases.
Preliminary Engineering. This phase includes evaluation of widening the turnpike corridor to the roadway configuration above and the study of potential environmental and community impacts in the project area. This information will assist the project team in determining a preferred alternative that will be further studied and refined during the next phase.
Final Design. During this phase the preferred alternative will be further refined. Details about specific right-of-way and easement requirements will be finalized. The timeframe for Final Design is unknown at this time.
