Project Overview
The Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Lafayette Street Interchange Project is located in Plymouth Township at Milepost 331.6 and is a major component of Montgomery County’s overall Lafayette Street Extension Project. The Interchange Project is currently in the final design phase, which includes the development of complete plans and specifications for the construction of the proposed ramps. Below is an artist's rendering of the proposed design and how it will connect to existing Lafayette Street.
The Lafayette Street Interchange was conceived to help alleviate existing traffic problems and spur economic development in the vicinity of Norristown, PA. The interchange falls between the existing Valley Forge and Norristown interchanges and offers a more direct route for Turnpike motorists to access Norristown, Conshohocken, and interspersed commercial, industrial, and residential developments along the east shore of the Schuylkill River.
