Westbound Access at Sideling Hill Service Plaza to Temporarily Close
Westbound Access at Sideling Hill Service Plaza to Temporarily Close
Eastbound access to remain open at bi-directional plaza.
FULTON COUNTY, Pa. —The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) is advising drivers that, weather permitting, construction at the bi-directional Sideling Hill Service Plaza will cause a temporary closure to the westbound side of the facility.
The entrance and exit ramp to the service plaza westbound will be closed from Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 a.m. This is necessary to allow PA Turnpike crews and contractors to safely conduct paving work on the ramps.
Information will be posted and announcements will be made inside the plaza warning customers of the impending closure. If westbound customers remain in the service plaza after 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 they will be required to stay there until the exit ramp reopens. During the closure, westbound motorists needing fuel and food who wish to remain on the PA Turnpike should stop 30 miles prior to Sideling Hill at the Blue Mountain Service Plaza or continue to travel to the North Midway Service Plaza, 25 miles down the road from Sideling Hill. All service plaza amenities such as fuel, restrooms, the convenience store and food concepts will remain open at Sideling Hill for eastbound travelers during this time.
Construction is part of an ongoing $28 million project to expand parking for trucks, busses, and personal vehicles at Sideling Hill. The PA Turnpike is also constructing a new Trailhead that will serve as a connection to more than 600 miles of trails within a 25-mile radius of the plaza and will be accessible to both PA Turnpike customers and those traveling from an off-Turnpike location. The parking project is scheduled to be completed later this fall while the trailhead and other aspects of the final project will be completed by May 2025.
