Eastbound Access to Sideling Hill Service Plaza to Temporarily Close as Part of Truck Parking Expansion and Trailhead Project
Westbound access to remain open at bi-directional plaza.
FULTON COUNTY, PA —The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is advising drivers that, weather permitting, construction at the bi-directional Sideling Hill Service Plaza will cause a temporary closure to the eastbound side of the facility.
Beginning Sunday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m., access to the eastbound side of the plaza will be closed until Friday, April 26 at 6:00 a.m. to allow for further construction of an ongoing $28 million project to expand parking for trucks, busses, and personal vehicles at Sideling Hill. During this time, eastbound motorists needing fuel and food who wish to remain on the Turnpike should stop 25 miles prior to Sideling Hill at the South Midway Service Plaza or continue to travel to the Cumberland Valley Service Plaza, 47 miles down the road from Sideling Hill.
All service plaza amenities such as fuel, restrooms, the convenience store and food concepts will remain open at Sideling Hill for westbound travelers during this time.
Construction, which began in May 2023, is scheduled to be completed in May 2025. As part of the parking project, the PTC is also constructing a new Trailhead that will serve as a connection to more than 600 miles of trails within a 25-mile radius of the plaza. It will be accessible to both Turnpike customers and those traveling from an off-Pike location.
