Completed Construction Activities

  • Tree clearing in advance of mainline reconstruction.
  • The existing Findley Street overhead bridge at MP 129.0 needed to be replaced with a longer structure to accommodate the future widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from four to six travel lanes. Construction of this replacement bridge was completed in 2014.
  • The New Baltimore Slope Remediation early action project between MP 127.9 and MP 128.7 Eastbound was required to remove an active landslide that was impacting the Turnpike mainline shoulders. The proposed treatment consisted of excavating the slope from the top down, removing the active sliding plane and using the excavated material to reconstruct the slope. This work was completed in 2017.
