Construction Activities
Mainline widening and reconstruction (Five main construction stages) started June 2022. Project is substantially complete with final sealing and line striping to occur early September.
- Stage 5A/5B – Final widening and median construction on the mainline of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was completed in November 2025. The final configuration of the Turnpike includes three (3) 12’ driving lanes and 12’ right and median shoulders in both directions.
- Stage 6 – With full widening of the mainline of the Pennsylvania Turnpike complete, final milling and overlay paving began in May 2026. This work includes the milling of 2” of the temporary asphalt paving and replacing with 2” of Stone Matrix Asphalt paving. Work is scheduled to be completed at the end of August 2026.
