East Texas Road Bridge Replacement Engineering Plans and Detour Information Available

The PA Turnpike has reached a milestone with the advancement of engineering and environmental studies for this overhead bridge replacement project.  The project is located in Lower Macungie Township at Milepost A54.9.

The PA Turnpike is aiming to begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and complete by the first quarter of 2028. The second page of the display board exhibit outlines three detours as noted below:

  • East Texas Road: This detour is expected to be in place for 14 months using East Texas Road, Minesite Road, Lower Macungie Road, and Route 29.
  • Hidden Valley Road North: This detour is expected to be in place for 7 months and follows Fish Hatchery Road to Minesite Road to Hidden Valley Road.
  • Hidden Valley Road South: This detour is expected to be in place for 7 months and follows East Texas Road, to Promise Lane, to Meadow Lane, to Harvest Lane, to Meadowview Drive, and back to Hidden Valley Road.

These detour routes have been coordinated with PennDOT and the school district and emergency service providers have deemed it acceptable. Select the link below to see the exhibits in more detail.
