PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Future construction activities include:
- Tree clearing in advance of construction
- Followed by mainline widening outside of existing shoulders
- Followed by reconstruction of the travel lanes
There are no construction activities at this time.
Areas of Interest During the Design Process
The bridge over Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad demonstrates a substandard curve that will require widening to the north.
Hulton Road under Turnpike - The horizontal and vertical clearances will meet PennDOT Design Criteria. Hulton Road was lowered in 2021.
Repp Road under Turnpike - The horizontal and vertical clearances will meet the Plum Borough’s design requirements.
Milltown Road under Turnpike - The vertical and horizontal clearances will meet the PennDOT Design Criteria.
Leechburg Road Viaduct - In order to maintain four lanes of traffic during the replacement of the bridge over Little Plum Creek on Leechburg Road and Siple Street, the bridge location will likely need to be shifted slightly to the north or south.
Unity Trestle Road over Turnpike - The horizontal clearances will meet the Allegheny County Design Criteria. Unity Trestle Road bridge was replaced in 2021.
Miller’s Lane under Turnpike - The horizontal and vertical clearances will meet the Plum Borough’s design requirements.
