Sample Invoice

Any tolls a motorist incurs at a cashless tolling point on the PA Turnpike will be processed into a monthly PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoice and mailed out to the respective vehicle owner.

Once you receive an invoice, you may go online to to process your payment. You may also pay by calling the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1-877-736-6727 and select option 3 for PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE or by following the mailing instructions included on the invoice.

TOLL BY PLATE customers will be charged the “cash” toll rate. However at the time of payment, they have the option to open an E-ZPass account to receive the discounted rate.

If you are an E-ZPass customer, you will not receive a PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoice as long as your E-ZPass account is in good standing. If you do receive an invoice, you should contact the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center for assistance or fill out Section C of the appeal form including with your invoice.

Cash customers will receive an invoice in the mail. The invoice will be sent to the registered vehicle owner.

A PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoice will include the logo that looks like a license plate on the top. It will not include a photo of your vehicle, but you can view images of the plate online. It will be a multiple page document.

The first page contains summary information about the registered owner of the vehicle and account activity. The bottom portion includes information on how to pay: online, phone or mail. This portion should be sent in with any mailed payment.

The second page of the invoice includes frequently asked questions and an appeal form. If you believe you should not have received an invoice, you may fill out this form with the reason and send it within 30 days from the date of the PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoice. Please call the PTC E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1 -877-736-6727 and select option 3, TOLL BY PLATE, for assistance in completing the form.

The third and subsequent pages will include detailed account activity for all transactions that were posted to your account during the billing period. This activity will include toll charges for each time you drove through cashless tolling points, payments received or adjustments made during the billing period indicated on the invoice.


You may have received a Certificate of Passage, an E-ZPass violation, or a Florida Turnpike TOLL-BY-PLATE invoice instead. These documents are not PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoices and cannot be paid here.

Certificate of Passage (COP)

This document is given by a tollbooth attendant at traditional toll plazas to a cash customer who did not have enough money to pay a toll. The amount due for the customer will be listed and should be paid within 10 days of receiving. You will not receive this document through the mail.

E-ZPass Violation

A violation notice will be mailed to the registered owner of a vehicle when it exits through an E-ZPass lane without a valid E-ZPass transponder at the time of travel. The violation notice includes a toll amount and an initial $25 administrative fee. Payment for the violation notice can be made by mail, online or by phone. Detailed payment information is included on the violation notice. This invoice will include a photograph of the vehicle with the license plate visible.

This Is a Florida TOLL-BY-PLATE Invoice and must be paid at Florida's Payment page.
