Ramp Detour Scheduled at Cranberry Interchange
Impacting access from Interstate 79 Northbound, all other ramps remain open
CRANBERRY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises drivers that there will be an upcoming ramp closures for travelers who enter the PA Turnpike (Interstate 76) at the Cranberry Interchange (Exit 28) from Interstate 79 northbound.
As part of an ongoing repair and maintenance project at the Cranberry Interchange, the ramp leading from I-79 North to the PA Turnpike will be closed during the following times:
- April 7, 2025, 5 a.m. to April 11, 2025, 5 a.m.
- April 14, 2025, 5 a.m. to April 18, 2025, 5 a.m.
- April 21, 2025, 5 a.m. to April 25, 2025, 5 a.m.
- April 28, 2025, 5 a.m. to May 2, 2025, 5 a.m.
- May 5, 2025, 5 a.m. to May 8, 2025, 5 a.m.
Travelers wishing to enter the PA Turnpike from I-79 NB should take the following detour:
- Continue on I-79 North 0.7 miles, take PA Route 228 West (Cranberry/Mars)
- Follow signs for PA Route 228 West (Cranberry), left onto PA Route 228
- 0.2 miles to I-79 South (Pittsburgh) ramp
- Follow signs for I-76/PA Turnpike (Youngstown, OH/Harrisburg)
All other ramps will remain open. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
The Cranberry Interchange project is scheduled to be completed in October.

This roadwork is critical to delivering on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike)'s mission of operating a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce. Since 2023, the PA Turnpike has supported more than $1 billion in construction bids to modernize, maintain or improve customer experience. Key projects include resurfacing nearly 75 miles roadway, a record-high 27 miles of total reconstruction, and replacing key bridges at Beaver River and Hawk Falls.
