Project Overview
This project will reconstruct and widen approximately five miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Milepost 57 to Milepost 62 in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties in the municipalities of Monroeville and Murrysville and Penn Township. The roadway will be widened from four lanes to six, featuring three 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, a 26-foot median, and 12-foot-wide shoulders.
The project also involves replacing mainline bridges over local roads and streams, lengthening culverts, and improving stormwater drainage through the area. As part of this multi-phase project, the PA Turnpike has advanced the Trafford Road Bridge overhead bridge replacement at SR 4033 and the Harvison Road Bridge (Milepost 61.68) has been removed.
The Monroeville Interchange (Exit 57) and the MP 62-67 Total Reconstruction projects are not included in this project.
Upon completion, this reconstruction and widening project will enhance safety and mobility for travelers on this section of the interstate.
