Project Details

Preliminary Design began in 2013 on the future reconstruction and widening of the Mainline of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) from Milepost 308 to Milepost 312 (SR 100) in Chester County.

Construction

The existing overhead bridges within the project corridor are being replaced to accommodate the future widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from four to six lanes. The overhead bridge carrying Milford Road was completed in 2019 and the the bridge carrying Park Road over the Pennsylvania Turnpike is currently in construction schedule to be completed by the fall of 2022. Several photos documenting construction progress at each of these structures are provided below.

 

Park Rd. T-523 work completed: 

  • Retaining Wall Aesthetic Coating
  • Placement of 25MM and 19MM pavement at the approaches
  • Guiderail installation
  • Removal of the old guiderail
  • Traffic maintained over the newly constructed portion of structure
  • June 19, 2022 Existing Vehicle Bridge Beam Removal
  • June 26, 2022 Existing Pedestrian Bridge Beam Removal

Milford Road  Bridge Replacement

Park Road Bridge Replacement

Typical Section

At project completion, the section will consist of 6 travel lanes (3 westbound and 3 eastbound), with a 26-foot median, and 12-foot outside shoulders.
