Northeast Extension Northbound Closure Scheduled Sunday Morning
Early morning work scheduled to minimize traffic impacts for customers
CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists that the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) will be closed northbound between the SR 903 (Exit 87) and Pocono (Exit 95) Interchanges on Sunday, March 15 between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
This closure is necessary to place a new sign structure and repair the fiber optic network in the area as part of a bridge replacement project. Southbound traffic in that stretch will not be impacted.
Northbound traffic can take the following detour:
• PA 903 North 7.1 miles
• PA 115 North 2.1 miles
• I-80 West 7.0 miles (Exit 277)
• Re-enter at the Pocono Interchange #95
Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly.
