Lane Closure for Road Repairs in Westmoreland County
Lane Closure for Road Repairs in Westmoreland County
WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) is alerting travelers to a lane closure while maintenance crews are working to safely make emergency road repairs.
PA Turnpike crews noticed an issue under the surface in the eastbound lanes at milepost 62.4 eastbound, between the Pittsburgh (Exit 57) and Irwin (Exit 67) Interchanges. The right lane has been closed indefinitely to allow for repairs.
Eastbound travelers are advised that there are already traffic backlogs in the area and they are expected to grow throughout the day, especially during the evening rush hours if the closure remains this evening. Drivers are advised to check @PATurnpikeAlert on X/Twitter and 511pa.com for the latest updates. An alternative route around the area from the Pittsburgh Interchange would be U.S. Route 22 East 10.5 miles, PA Turnpike Toll 66 South 7 miles, U.S. Route 30 West 4.6 miles, then re-enter PA Turnpike at Irwin Interchange.
