Traffic on Hawk Falls Bridge Reduced to One-Lane Southbound, Closure Scheduled during Overnight Hours, for Repairs

The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises drivers that southbound traffic on the Hawk Falls Bridge (Milepost A88.6) along the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) has been reduced to one-lane to allow PA Turnpike crews and contractors to safely make bridge repairs. Drivers should be prepared for delays and potential backlogs in the area.

To allow additional repairs to be made safely, southbound traffic will be closed between the Pocono (Exit 95) and State Route 903 (Exit 87) Interchanges on Wednesday, June 25 from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. The following suggested detour will be in place:

  • Interstate 80 East, 7.8 miles
  • PA Route 115 South, 1.8 miles
  • PA Route 903 South, 7.1 miles
  • Re-enter at the PA 903 Interchange #87

This part of the repair will be done during overnight hours to minimize the additional traffic impacts. Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on the closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
