Road Closure Scheduled Between Downingtown and SR 29 Interchanges
Part of Total Reconstruction project, closure set for overnight hours to minimize traffic impacts.
CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) is scheduling an overnight road closure on Interstate 76 (I-76) between the Downingtown (Exit 312) and State Route 29 (Exit 320) interchanges.
Eastbound lanes between Downingtown and S.R. 29 will be closed from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 4 to allow PA Turnpike and construction crews to safely mill and pave the existing eastbound travel lanes at the new Exit 312 eastbound on-ramp. This work, part of an ongoing Total Reconstruction Project between MP 312-316, will make sure the grades work to transition traffic to the new ramp.
The following suggested detour will be in place:
• PA 100 South 4.2 miles • US 30 East 2.1 miles • US 202 North 3.7 miles • PA 29 North 0.3 miles • Right-turn Matthews Rd 0.4 miles • Right-turn PA 29 North 1.6 miles • Re-enter at S.R. 29 Interchange #320 |
The PA Turnpike’s Total Reconstruction initiative transforms America’s first superhighway to provide a safer and more efficient travel experience for PA Turnpike customers. This system-wide initiative expands the PA Turnpike, improves capacity and major corridor access.
Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure.
