Overnight Closures Scheduled Between Pittsburgh and Irwin Interchanges
Closures for maintenance work scheduled to minimize traffic impacts
NEW STANTON, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) is scheduling overnight road closures between the Pittsburgh (Exit 57) and Irwin (Exit 67) interchanges.
To allow PA Turnpike crews to safely conduct maintenance work in the corridor; including drain cleaning, roadway sealing and sweeping, the following closures are required:
- Sunday, April 27, 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., westbound at Irwin to Pittsburgh
- Sunday, May 4, 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., eastbound at Pittsburgh to Irwin
The following suggested detours will be in place during the respective closures:
WESTBOUND DETOUR • U.S. Route 30 East for 4.6 miles • PA Toll 66 North for 7 miles • U.S. Route 22 West 10.5 miles • Re-enter PA Turnpike at Pittsburgh Interchange #57 | EASTBOUND DETOUR • U.S. Route 22 East 10.5 miles • PA Toll 66 South 7 miles • U.S. Route 30 West 4.6 miles • Re-enter PA Turnpike at Irwin Interchange #67 |

Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions

This roadwork is critical to delivering on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike)'s mission of operating a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce. Since 2023, the PA Turnpike has supported more than $1 billion in construction bids to modernize, maintain or improve customer experience. Key projects include resurfacing nearly 75 miles roadway, a record-high 27 miles of total reconstruction, and replacing key bridges at Beaver River and Hawk Falls.
