Overnight Closure Scheduled at Wilkes-Barre Interchange

Overnight Closure Scheduled at Wilkes-Barre Interchange

Overnight work scheduled to minimize traffic impacts for customers.

CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists traveling on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) that the Wilkes-Barre Interchange (Exit 105) will be closed in both directions Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from midnight until 5 a.m. to allow crews to safely install a new overhead sign structure and remove the old structure.

During the closure, drivers should go to the next exit and find an alternative route. Those looking to access the Northeast Extension at Wilkes-Barre will have to enter during that time at either the Pocono (Exit 95) or Wyoming Valley (Exit 115) interchanges.

Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
