PA Turnpike Gearing Up for Busy Thanksgiving Travel Period
Motorists should prioritize safety with increased traffic levels projected
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) is getting ready for what’s traditionally some of the busiest days on the roadway all year as 3.41 million travelers are expected to take the PA Turnpike during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period between Tuesday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Dec. 1.
The projection is a slight increase over the same timeframe in 2023. Daily PA Turnpike traffic projections for the holiday period are as follows:

With a high number of motorists traveling the PA Turnpike to get to their Thanksgiving celebrations, the PA Turnpike maintains its dedication to providing a safe and efficient travel experience for all and urges everyone to drive responsibly and adhere to all traffic regulations.
To ensure as many travel lanes are open as possible, PA Turnpike maintenance and construction crews will suspend all work beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 until 11 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. As part of the GEICO Safety Patrol initiative, PA Turnpike personnel will have increased patrol the roadway, along with PA State Police.
