Bowmansville Service Plaza Ramp Closure Scheduled for Tonight

Bowmansville Service Plaza Ramp Closure Scheduled for Tonight

Service plaza visitors should prepare for overnight ramp closure.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling eastbound on Interstate 76 (I-76) that starting tonight, Wednesday, April 19, the Bowmansville Service Plaza entry ramp will be closed for a maximum of 60 minutes between 11:59 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

The closure is necessary so crews can safely install traffic detection sensors at the entry ramp for a Truck Parking Management System. The Bowmansville Service Plaza is located on I-76 eastbound at milepost 289.8.

During the 60-minute closure, the service plaza entry ramp will be closed to all traffic. Motorists will not be able to enter the service plaza and should seek alternate options for fuel, food and restrooms.  The service plaza exit ramp will remain open for any visitors who entered the plaza prior to the closure.

The Truck Parking Management System is being developed to combat a statewide and national shortage of truck parking availability.  The system will support the trucking industry by providing near, real-time truck parking availability data to truck drivers via digital message signs along the PA Turnpike roadways.  This data will also be available to drivers through other travel apps and third-party truck parking information systems.

Changeable message signs will also provide information on these closures. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
