PA Turnpike Virtual Presentation for Bridge Project in Bedford County

Public invited to view project displays for new bridge planned over Sunnyside Road in Bedford Township.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is inviting the public to view, via its website, project displays for the replacement of a bridge located on the PA Turnpike at milepost 148.06, which spans State Route 1001 (Sunnyside Road) in Bedford Township, Bedford County.

The purpose of this construction project is to remove the existing deteriorating bridge and replace it with a new structure that will provide improved lane and shoulder widths along Sunnyside Road while increasing the vertical clearance under the new bridge to meet current standards.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, project displays for this bridge project will be made available via the Turnpike’s website at: www.patpconstruction.com/mp148/.  The project displays will remain on the website under the “public involvement” tab indefinitely, but comments will only be accepted from Dec. 1 through Dec. 31, 2020.

Instructions to submit questions and comments will be posted with the project displays but can also be provided through the “contact us” tab on the website. All questions will be answered by a project engineer in a timely fashion.

Construction on the bridge is expected to begin in early 2023 with completion projected to be in Nov. of 2024.  As the project moves forward, new information will be posted at:  www.patpconstruction.com/mp148/.
