The Bridge to Zero Fatalities

Over 80 years ago, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission became America’s First Superhighway. Our mission today is to operate a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce.

Making our mission a reality, the PA Turnpike has adopted significant levels of Capital Plan Investment – $7.5 billion over 10 years.

This investment has enabled the completion of over 155 miles of total reconstruction of our system to date, and we anticipate the completion of nearly 100 miles of additional total reconstruction projects within the next decade. The direct impact to our customers will be a better ride and better mobility.

Many of the sections of our system that have been reconstructed have also been widened from four to six lanes. This widening will enable future maintenance to occur with minimal disruption, providing the uninterrupted travel experience our customers deserve.

Customer service, a core value for the PA Turnpike, means that we will maintain the highest level of quality service with a focus on safety, dependability, and mobility. Through our Capital Plan Investment, we aim to build "The bridge to zero fatalities."
