Road Closure Scheduled on Northeast Extension Between Lehigh Valley and Quakertown Interchange
Weekend overnight closure for bridge replacement project scheduled to minimize travel impacts
LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists traveling on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) in Lehigh and Bucks County that a bridge replacement project will lead to an overnight road closure in both directions this weekend.
To allow for demolition and for beams to be safely removed as part of the replacement of bridge NB-349 (Tilghman Street), the Northeast Extension is scheduled to be closed on Sunday, March 16 from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. between the Lehigh Valley (Exit 56) and Quakertown (Exit 44) interchanges. The bridge replacement is part of a plan to reconstruct and widen the Northeast Extension from milepost A53 to A57.
The following suggested detours will be in place during the closure:

Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
