Early Morning Closure Scheduled at Mahoning Valley Interchange
Early Morning Closure Scheduled at Mahoning Valley Interchange
Overnight work scheduled to minimize traffic impacts for customers.
CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists traveling on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) that the Mahoning Valley Interchange (Exit 74) will be closed in both directions from 12 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The closure is required so crews can safely install a new overhead sign structure and remove the old structure.
During the closure, drivers should go to the next exit and find an alternative route. Those looking to access the Northeast Extension at Mahoning Valley will have to enter during that time at either the Lehigh Valley (Exit 58) or Route 903 (Exit 87) interchanges.
Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
