Overnight Closure Scheduled for Northeast Extension Sunday
Overnight work scheduled to minimize traffic delays for customers.
CARBON COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling that the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) will be closed in both directions between the Wyoming Valley (Exit #115) and the Pocono (Exit #95) Interchanges on Sunday, April 21 from 12 a.m. until 5 a.m. The closure is required for bridge work and is weather permitting.
During the closure, traffic will be directed off the Turnpike and drivers can use the following suggested detours to get back on the Turnpike.
Northbound Detour:
•I-80 West 16.8 miles
•I-81 North 23.6 miles
•PA 315 North 0.3 miles
•Re-enter at Wyoming Valley Interchange #115
Southbound Detour:
•PA 315 South 1.4 miles
•I-81 South 23.7 miles
•I-80 East 16.8 miles
•Re-enter at Pocono Interchange #95Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Digital message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
