Overnight Closure Scheduled Between Irwin and Pittsburgh Interchanges This Weekend

Overnight Closure Scheduled Between Irwin and Pittsburgh Interchanges This Weekend

Five-hour westbound closure planned for maintenance work in the corridor.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that the westbound lanes of Interstate 76 (I-76) will be closed from midnight until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 16 between the Irwin Interchange (Exit 67) and the Pittsburgh Interchange (Exit 57) in Westmoreland County.

The Turnpike closure is necessary for the protection of motorists and workers so crews can safely perform roadway maintenance and repairs.

Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted interchanges to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on closures and detours.

Westbound Detour

After exiting at the Irwin Interchange (Exit 67), keep right to take U.S. Route 30 eastbound toward Greensburg for 4.6 miles to PA Turnpike Route 66 (Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass). Turn left onto PA Turnpike Route 66 northbound and travel north seven miles to U.S. Route 22 westbound and turn left. Then drive 10.5 miles on U.S. Route 22 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) interchange at Monroeville. From there, keep left and follow signs for westbound I-76 to Ohio to reenter the PA Turnpike.

Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
