Road Closure Scheduled on PA Turnpike and Northeast Extension This Weekend
Scheduled during early morning hours to minimize traffic disruptions
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists that there will be two closures on Sunday, April 12 from 12 a.m. until 5 a.m. Both closures are necessary for general roadway maintenance.
A closure is scheduled northbound on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) between the Quakertown Exit #44 and the Lehigh Valley Exit #56. During this closure, the following detour will be in effect during this time:
Northbound detour:
- PA 663 North 3.3 miles
- PA 309 North 9.3 miles
- I-78 West 6.3 miles
- PA 309 North 1.0 miles
- US 22 West or Tilghman Street west 1.1 miles
- Re-enter at the Lehigh Valley Interchange #56
A second closure is scheduled for Westbound on the PA Turnpike (I-276) between Downingtown Interchange Exit#312 and Morgantown Interchange Exit# 298. During this closure, the following detour will be in effect:
Westbound detour:
- PA 100 North 9.0 miles
- PA 23 West 12.4 miles
- PA 10 North 1 .0 mile
- Re-enter the PA Turnpike at the Morgantown Interchange (Exit 298)
Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly.
