What is the CEO Intern Fellows Program?

InternshipThe Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Intern Fellows Program is designed to attract and retain college juniors and seniors from underrepresented groups to careers in transportation through intern fellowships with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). CEO Intern Fellows receive a full professional enrichment experience that includes participation in a group project assigned by the executive leadership of the organization and concludes with a presentation to the members of the senior staff. In addition to the opportunity to gain real work experience at the PTC, Intern Fellows will attend four hour-long seminars designed to enhance the essential skills of a successful transportation professional.

What is the program objective?

To address the future workforce needs of the transportation field, specifically in the STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and math) along with other essential functions such as administration, communications and finance.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Students must meet the following requirements to participate in the program:

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must have completed 9 credit hours in your respective major, with a 2.5 GPA or greater
  • Must demonstrate the ability to commit to the program for its duration
  • Must submit the following:
    1. ONLINE: Complete the PTC summer employment application
    2. MAIL: Most recent college transcript
    3. MAIL: Letter of recommendation from a professor
    4. MAIL: Proof of enrollment in previous semester
    5. MAIL: 500 word essay stating why you would like to do a fellowship at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission

How long does the program last?

This is a full fellowship program that includes wrap-around development to ensure professional success. The students have the option of working 30-40 hours per week during the summer through Sept. 30, 2018.

What is the rate of pay?

The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.

What is the location for the program?

The program will be administered in the Central Administration Office, located at 700 S. Eisenhower Blvd. in Middletown, and that is the preferred location for interns; however, under special circumstances there may be limited opportunities for students to report to the Eastern (King of Prussia) and Western (New Stanton) regional offices.
