Construction Activities
Construction began in spring 2023 to widen and reconstruct approximately four miles of the PA Turnpike between the Downingtown Interchange (Milepost 312) and the Valley Hill Road overpass (Milepost 316) in Upper Uwchlan, Uwchlan, West Pikeland, and Charlestown Townships, Chester County. The roadway will expand from four to six lanes, improving safety and capacity.
The project includes bridge replacements, culvert extensions, noise wall installation, and extensive stormwater upgrades. Completion is expected in 2027.
Preliminary work, including vegetation clearing, was completed in fall 2022. Bridges on Bodine Road and Valley Hill Road (SR 1021) were also replaced to support the roadway widening.
