Comments:
The Pennsylvania Turnpike is now operating under a weather emergency. Travelers are urged to reduce their speeds and keep alert for changing travel conditions and emergency crews working on the roadway. Stay alert for areas of snow with poor visibility and icy roadways as conditions change, and allow plenty of space when driving near plow trucks. Never attempt to pass a truck while it is plowing or spreading winter materials. All abandoned vehicles are being towed from the turnpike to allow crews to treat and plow the roadways. Plan for travel by packing needed supplies which include medication, blankets, a small shovel, and pet supplies. Starting at midnight on Saturday January 23rd, a double trailer, empty trailer and tow behind trailer ban, and 45 mph speed restriction will be in effect between Breezewood Interchange and the Delaware River Bridge, and also on I-476 from Mid-County to the Lehigh Valley Interchange.
