New Driver Work Zone Safety Training Program

Driving through a construction zone can be a stressful experience for new drivers. That’s why the PA Turnpike and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) have teamed up to create this free, 35-minute virtual training program that teaches important safety aspects of work zones, including:

• Safe driving behaviors
• Work zone signage and devices
• Navigating lane closures and merging
• PA work zone laws and regulations
• What to do if you break down in a work zone...and more!

WORK ZONE SPEED SAFETY CAMERAS

The PA Turnpike and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), have implemented a statewide Work Zone Speed Safety Camera program to reduce work zone speeds, change driver behavior and improve work zone safety for workers and motorists.

While we work to make roadways safer, we empower our customers to be informed about work zone safety regulations that may protect you and our highway workers, such as:

• Drive the posted work zone speed limit
• Move over or slow down when you encounter an emergency scene, traffic stop or disabled vehicle. It's the law!
• Be aware of all signage
• Keep your eyes up and your phone down
