Section of Unity Trestle Road in Plum Borough, Allegheny County to Close Oct. 19

28-day closure needed for PA Turnpike bridge work.


The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is alerting motorists that a section of Unity Trestle Road, in Plum Borough, Allegheny County, will be closed to traffic starting Oct. 19 due to work being done to replace Unity Trestle Road Bridge which spans the PA Turnpike.

Unity Trestle Road will be closed between Old Leechburg Road/Millers Lane to the intersection with Universal Road. Detour signs will be in place. Access to local businesses will be maintained with signage directing motorists to each business.

The following posted detours will be in place for all vehicles for the duration of construction work.

Eastbound Unity Trestle Road traffic detour (approx. 4.2 miles):

Leechburg Road (State Route 2086) to

New Texas Road (State Route 2075) to

Old Leechburg Road (State Route 2076) to

Unity Trestle Road

Westbound Unity Trestle Road traffic detour (approx.  7.15 miles):

Saltsburg Road (State Route 380) to

Leechburg Road (State Route 2086) to

Unity Trestle Road

The work will be performed in two phases over the 28-day period.

From Oct. 19 to Nov. 1, crews will work to tie-in Unity Trestle Road with Bank Street and the intersection of Old Leechburg Road. Signs will be posted directing motorists how to access the businesses in Unity Plaza and the Sunoco.

From Nov. 2 to Nov. 15, crews will work on tie-ins with Universal Road and Katz Street. During this phase, Unity Trestle Road from the intersection of Old Leechburg Road to the intersection of Bank Street will be open for access to the Unity Plaza and Sunoco businesses. 

Construction activities will include realignment of Unity Trestle Road with the new bridge structure, local roads, and businesses within the project limits. New drainage pipes will also be installed in the project area.   

The replacement of Unity Trestle Road Bridge, which carries traffic over the Turnpike at milepost 52.36 in Plum Borough, Allegheny County is part of the future total reconstruction project between mileposts 49 and 53. For more information go to https://www.patpconstruction.com/mp49to53/.
