Thorn Hill Road in Marshall Twp., Allegheny County to Reopen Oct. 30

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that a section of Thorn Hill Road in Marshall Twp. will be reopen to traffic at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30.  The road has been closed since March 16th for the replacement of an overhead bridge which carries Thorn Hill Road over the Turnpike at milepost 29.33.

Joseph B. Fay Company of Russellton, Pa. replaced the existing steel girder bridge with a new, concrete beam bridge and a concrete box culvert which carries Brush Creek under Thorn Hill Road. Additionally, the Turnpike partnered with Marshall Twp. officials to construct a right-turn lane from Thorn Hill Road onto Commonwealth Drive.

This early-action project is a part of the future total reconstruction of the Turnpike Mainline from milepost 28 to 31.
