PA Turnpike to Close Overnight this weekend between Somerset Bedford Exits

Four-hour closure needed for removal of overhead bridge at milepost 132.54
The Pennsylvania Turnpike will implement a closure both eastbound and westbound starting at 11:30 p.m. April 14 through 4 a.m. April 15 between the Somerset Exit (#110) and the Bedford Exit (#146).  At 6 p.m., April 14 motorists will be directed into a single lane pattern in each direction which will stay in place until 6 a.m., April 15. This work will proceed as weather permits.

The closure is needed for the removal of an overhead bridge at milepost 132.54, which carries Cider Road over the mainline in Juniata Township, Bedford County.

The recommended detours for exiting motorists are as follows:
Exiting at Somerset (#110) follow signing to PA Route 281 north (2.5 miles) to U.S. Route 219 north (9 miles) to U.S. Route 30 east (31.8 miles) to U.S. Route 220 north (2.3 miles). This will bring motorists to the Bedford Interchange (#146) where they will reenter the Turnpike eastbound.
Exit at Bedford (#146) follows signing to U.S. Route 220 south (2.5 miles) to U.S. Route 30 west (31.8 miles) to U.S. Route 219 south (9 miles) to PA Route 281 south (2.3 miles) follow signing to PA Turnpike to the Somerset Interchange (#110) where motorists will reenter the Turnpike westbound.
Alternate-route cards will be available to exiting travelers at the Somerset and Bedford Interchanges during the closure. Expect higher traffic volumes on detour roads during the closure.
Message boards will be placed to inform customers of the closure, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts at station 1640 AM also are being used to inform travelers.
