(Harrisburg) The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission today announced that effective Monday, February 4 through September, there will be both northbound and southbound shoulder closures on the Northeastern Extension between the Mid-County Interchange (Exit 21) and the Lansdale Interchange (Exit 31) to accommodate replacement of the Kriebel Road bridge (1 ˝ miles south of the Lansdale Interchange) in Towamencin Township, and the Bethel Road bridge (4 ˝ miles south of the Lansdale Interchange) in Worcester Township that cross over the Turnpike. In addition, nighttime single-lane closures will be implemented as needed.

There will also be occasions when the 10.5-mile section of the Northeast Extension (I-476) from the Mid-County Interchange to the Lansdale Interchange will be closed in both northbound and southbound directions with off-Pike detours in effect. The first closure between the Mid-County and Lansdale Interchanges is scheduled to occur on Sunday, February 24 (weather permitting) between midnight and 6 a.m. Changeable message signs will be situated along the mainline to provide the traveling public with updated information regarding closures and detours.
