Preparatory Work for Opening of Mon/Fayette Expressway
Will Require Brief Traffic Restrictions Friday Morning
on Interstate 70

Eastbound and westbound motorists on Interstate 70 in eastern Washington County may encounter brief, periodic traffic restrictions between 9 AM and noon Friday, May 11 due to work associated with the opening of Turnpike 43 (Mon/Fayette Expressway).

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will open at or about 11 AM Friday four more miles of the growing Mon/Fayette Expressway system, from Interstate 70 north to the Donora/Charleroi interchange at Coyle Curtin Road.

Among other tasks, crews will be removing barrels from the access ramps at the I-70/Turnpike 43 interchange and uncovering signs.

The interchange is located in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, between the Speers and Lover exits.
