RECEIPT PRINTERS INSTALLED ON AMOS K. HUTCHINSON BYPASS
New Stanton, PA -- The
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission today announced the installation
of automatic receipt printers on all of the ramps along the Amos
K. Hutchinson Bypass (Turnpike 66) near Greensburg.
Turnpike Executive Director John T. Durbin said, "We have enhanced our fare collection system on the Bypass to meet the needs of customers who must obtain receipts for employment and tax purposes."
Both the north and south ramps at each exit along the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass have been adapted to provide each customer with a receipt at the simple press of a button. Receipts can now be obtained by customers at Routes 136, 30, 130 and 66.
The receipt printers have been added to the lane equipment already in place at each ramp. Once the appropriate fare is paid and the green light is illuminated, a customer can then obtain a receipt by pushing a red button marked for receipts. The printing function is initiated only when the fare has been paid and the green light to exit is lit.
The estimated cost to install receipt printers along the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass is $29,000. The installation was done by TransCore, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
As one of the fastest growing segments of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass has shown a steady increase in traffic. Reports reveal a total of 427,000 trips were taken along the Bypass for the month of April, a 15% increase over total traffic for April of last year.
