Weight:
125,000 lbs. (Vehicles weighing 100,001 to 125,000 lbs. do not require a permit;
however they are charged a Class 9 Fare)
Axle Weight:
22,400 lbs.
Height:
136
Width:
Over 10 to max of 116
Exceptions:
Maximum width between interchanges 37/115 to 39/131 is 14 feet
Maximum width on Turnpike 43, 60, 66 is 15 feet
Note:Vehicles between 86 wide
and 10 wide do not require a permit, but
must follow time of day travel restrictions.

Escort Vehicle is Required in Addition to the
Permit:
1) Total vehicle length is over
90
2) Total vehicle width over 11
3) Total vehicle width over 116 between interchanges
37 to 39
4) Total vehicle width over 116 on Turnpike

5) Bumper overhang of 5
front or 15 rear
6) Or at the discretion of the Turnpike Commission

Vehicles between 86 wide and 10 wide do not require a permit but
must follow the
time of day restrictions.

to Obtain a Permit:
In order to obtain a permit, call the Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission
at (717) 939-9551, ext. 2980.
If applying for a permit for a vehicle that requires
special authorization,
axle weight and axle spacing
information is needed. A copy of the PENNDOT
Oversize/Overweight application for special hauling
permit will be required.
