Dear Sirs:

This note is to inform you of some true heroes among your rank.

On Saturday July 10, 1999, my truck broke down on the Pennsylvania Turnpike ¾ of a mile from Exit #12 at Breezwood. I walked up to the Interchange to get some help and the Supervisor there was Herb Jackson. Now normally I would not do something such as this note, but I will tell you, that Mr. Jackson and his crew of toll takers went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I had all of the information and help that I needed. Right down to offering me food and coffee if I needed it.

I just wanted to let the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission know, that in this day and age it was a true pleasure to run across some genuinely good people. Too often people like Herb Jackson and his crew go unnoticed but they were so good to me that I could not just except their hospitality without notice. Just a note too let you notice too!

Thank you, and please thank Herb and his crew

Truly Greatful,
John T. O'Donnell

Dear Mr. Durbin:

This is to commend Ms. Brenda Steward, a toll booth operator at the Irwin Interchange, for helping me during an emergency today.

When I told her that the pay phones were not working, Ms. Steward offered to call the University for me and relay emergency instructions since I was delayed in arriving.

I travel the Pennsylvania Turnpike daily and have found the toll booth attendants at the Irwin Interchange to be courteous and friendly.

I was particularly impressed with Ms. Steward’s quick thinking, and I am writing to you because I think that it is very important to let people know when they are doing a good job.

Sincerely,
Carol Calloway
