Information
The
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has a deep and abiding
respect for the property rights of individuals and the federal
and state laws governing property ownership. Our procedures
place the highest priority on honoring the rights of individuals
and the value of their investments, while also ensuring that
we remain true to our mission of providing transportation
services for the vast population of the state. In order to
provide Western Pennsylvania with modern, high-quality highways
and transportation facilities such as the PA Route 51 to I-376
Project, it will be necessary to acquire some property.
As the Selected Alternative was developed
and studied, preliminary Right-of-Way (ROW) limits were established
and property impacts identified. Detailed mapping with the
preliminary ROW limits identified is available at the Project
Office for your review and information.
Once a funding source is identified, the ROW Acquisition Plan identifying the specific
properties to be purchased will be finalized. Then, ROW specialists
will formally contact and communicate with property owners
and tenants to provide information and relocation assistance.
Property owners and tenants that will be displaced or will
have a portion of their property purchased will be compensated
at fair market value and will be provided adequate notice
and coordination before acquisition occurs.
