What payment methods are available for E-ZPass accounts?
1. Automatic payment from bank account.
You cannot apply online using this payment option. This option is convenient because of its Automatic Replenishment feature. You can choose how much money to put into your E-ZPass account based on your toll usage ($35 minimum per tag). Whenever your E-ZPass account reaches $10.00 or less per tag, your checking account will be debited for the appropriate amount. Under this plan you'll never have to worry about low toll balances or mailing in a payment. Just remember to include a voided personal check with your application.
2. Credit, Debit or Check Card
You may also choose to use your credit card for payment. Again you'll have the convenience of the Automatic Replenishment feature. Whenever your E-ZPass account reaches $10.00 or less per tag, your credit card will be charged for the appropriate amount ($35 minimum per tag). And again, you'll never have to think about low toll balances or mailing in a payment.
3. Manual (Personal Check or Cash)
You cannot apply online using this payment option. You may establish your prepaid account with a personal check or cash ($35 minimum per tag). However, this payment method does not have the Automatic Replenishment feature. That means when your account balance reaches $15 per tag, you will be required to mail or hand-deliver your replenishment payment to the E-ZPass Customer Service Center (Cash must be hand-delivered).
A minimum prepaid balance of $35 per transponder is required. A $25 Deposit is also required if manual replenishment is selected.
If paying by cash, only walk-in enrollment can be accommodated. For payment by check, enrollment can be done by mail or walk-in. All other enrollment options require a credit card, debit card or check card.
Manual replenishment options can be accommodated after initial signup.
There will be a $4 charge for every monthly statement sent by mail.

What is the speed limit for E-Z Pass lanes?
The speed limit through E-Z Pass lanes is 5-miles per hour for trucks and busses. The 5-miles per hour limit is for the safety of all E-Z Pass customers and Pennsylvania Turnpike employees.

What if I'm already enrolled in E-ZPass through another state?
If you have already enrolled in an E-ZPass program in another state your tag will be valid on the PA Turnpike.

What do I do if I forget my password and pin number to access my E-ZPass account online?
Please call the PA Turnpike Commission E-ZPass Customer Service Center during normal business hours (M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) at 1-877-PENNPASS (736-6727). For your protection, you will be required to verify account information to obtain your pin.

How frequently is account information updated?
PA Turnpike transactions are typically posted to an account within 2 - 3 business days. Transactions incurred at other E-ZPass agencies are posted after the PA Turnpike receives them.

How do I mount my E-ZPass tag properly? (Interior windshield mount)
To avoid account violations, your tag must be properly mounted on the windshield below the rearview mirror:
1. CLEAN and DRY the mounting surface using alcohol (Isopropyl) and a clean, dry cloth.
2. REMOVE the clear plastic strips from the back of the mounting strip on the transponder to expose the adhesive surface.
3. POSITION the transponder in the upper part of the middle of your windshield. Generally, this means behind the rearview mirror on the inside of your windshield, at least one inch from the top.
4. PLACE the transponder on the windshield with the E-ZPass logo upright, facing you, and press firmly.
5. Make sure your transponder is not blocking your view while driving.
Please note: Not mounting your tag in the proper manner may result in a higher fare being charged or in an E-ZPass violation.
For instructions on how to affix an exterior or bumper mountable transponder, please contact the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1-877-PENNPASS (1-877-736-6727)

How do I know my E-ZPass transponder has been read?
You will notice what looks like a traffic signal in every E-ZPass lane. They are called feedback signals, and they indicate the status of your transaction. When your E-ZPass transponder is read, the light will turn green.
If you do not receive a green signal, please continue through the lane, do not stop.
No feedback or green signal is displayed at E-ZPass Express lanes (e.g. at Warrendale, Mid-County and Gateway)

What constitutes a violation?
A violation most commonly occurs when a customer does not have E-ZPass, but travels through an E-ZPass lane. A violation can also occur because a tag is invalid, lost, stolen or defective. It's very important for customers to properly mount their E-ZPass tags and update their account information (e.g. new license plate numbers) to avoid violations. Violators will be charged a fare based on their point of exit to the farthest point on the Turnpike ticket system and additional administrative fees. If you feel you've received a violation in error, please contact the E-ZPass Violations Processing Center at 1-877-PENNPASS (736-6727).

I'm an E-ZPass customer, and I noticed a charge on my account statement called a VToll. What is a VToll?
A V-Toll occurs if a signal is not received from a customer's E-ZPass transponder when passing through an E-ZPass lane, but it is verified, by matching license plate numbers, that they are an E-ZPass customer with an account in good standing.
To avoid V-Toll charges, E-ZPass customers should ensure that their E-ZPass transponder is mounted properly and a current license plate number is listed on their account.
If V-Toll charges appear on an account, E-ZPass customers should contact the Customer Service Center at 1-877-736-6727.

How can I dispute a toll that has been charged to my E-ZPass account?
First, please check to ensure that your E-ZPass tag is mounted properly on your windshield. Those customers whose tags are mounted improperly may be charged the full fare. To dispute a toll, please complete a Form 33-11B - E-ZPass Customer Claim Report (PDF version) and forward it to the E-ZPass Customer Service Center.

What is a slip ramp?
Slip ramps are access ramps that allow only E-ZPass customers to enter or exit the highway in between regular interchanges.
