Walsh Construction and their sub-contractors may be working around the clock throughout the six-mile construction area.  Residents living adjacent to the Turnpike may experience noise from heavy equipment, lights and backup alarms. All efforts are being taken to limit the impacts to the adjacent communities; however, night work is going to occur as needed.

Speed Limit Through Construction Zone

The 55 mph speed limit is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will remain in effect through 2014, when traveling through the Mid-County Interchange to Berks Road Construction project. The speed limit is reduced to 40 mph when trucks are entering and exiting the Turnpike and during single lane closures. The PTC urges motorists to slow down and obey the posted speed limits.

Northern Section Community Meetings – Noise Mitigation

The PTC met with property owners in the northern section regarding noise mitigation measures.
