Improvement Plan
Existing Conditions

The Capital Improvement Plan was created after an extensive evaluation of the I-80 corridor. The evaluation identified capital improvement needs totaling about $250 million per year.

I-80 Needs Summary:

Needs, priorities and project lists will be re-evaluated annually.

Over the next 10 years, the Pennsylvania Turnpike CommissionPTC will invest approximately $2.5 billion in I-80 rehabilitation and reconstruction of roadway, bridges, interchanges, and intelligent transportation systems. Another $1 billion will be used for ongoing resurfacing, asset management, and operating maintenance costs. Without I-80 tolls, less than one-third of the money necessary to address these needs would be available. Tolls on I-80 will provide the steady, reliable and inflation-sensitive investment level required to build a modern highway facility for future users.
