2020 and beyond

Over the remaining four decades of the Capital Improvement Plan, funding levels will be sustained at $250 million per year, adjusted annually for inflation. With this funding, the Pennsylvania Turnpike CommissionPTC will be able to reconstruct ALL pavement and bridges on I-80 by the end of the 50-year lease.

Roadway Improvements

At the end of the 50-year lease agreement, all pavement on I-80 will have been reconstructed. All pavement not previously reconstructed by Pennsylvania Department of TransportationPennDOT will be rebuilt by the third decade of the lease. With all of the improvements over the life of the lease, the PTC and PennDOT will ensure a consistently smooth ride quality for the entire length of the corridor.

Bridge Improvements

Improvements will continue for bridges, as well. In the following 40 years, the remaining 337 original bridges will be replaced.
