The conducted a series of nine Public Meetings in November 2007 to introduce the project and to collect input from citizens along the Interstate 80 corridor. More than 1,200 residents, business owners and public officials attended the series of meetings and provided input and concerns related to the impact the I-80 Toll Conversion Project may have on the community. In addition to public meetings, the Turnpike has participated in more than 50 meetings with various interests along the corridor. The primary concerns we heard related to potential:
- Business impacts
- Traffic diversion and related safety concerns
- Maintenance and operations plans
- Tolling system structure and operations
- Impacts to trucks
- Emergency response coordination and plans
The next round of Public Meetings will be scheduled if the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is accepted into the Interstate Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Pilot Program (ISRRPP) and Phase I approval is granted by FHWA. Please stay tuned for more information.
