Act 44 provides more than $116 billion over a 50-year period through the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission for transportation improvements in Pennsylvania. This yields an average of more than $2.3 billion per year, including:
- At least $10 billion will be invested directly in I-80;
- Up to $22.8 billion will be dedicated for highways and bridges based on the annual toll increases of 3 percent per year, on average; and
- $83.3 billion over 50 years (average of $1.67 billion per year) to for transportation funding;
The total payment scheduled by year follows:
- FY ’08 —$750 million PA Turnpike payment

- FY ’09 —$850 million PA Turnpike payment
- FY ’10 — $900 million PA Turnpike payment
- FY ’11 and beyond — contribution increases 2.5 percent annually
More than 50 percent of the revenue will be allocated for roads and bridges.
